How are these goals accomplished? The Unique IFPA/FIISM System
The unique Fellowship of Integrative Sports Medicine (FIISM) System starts with the FIISM Faculty recruiting the best minds, and most successful Practitioners; possessing the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) for the precise job function. This FIISM team is tasked with construction of a highly practical and comprehensive Job Analysis Survey (JAS). The JAS is a very comprehensive, labor-intensive process and the only valid, reliable, and acceptable way to determine the precise knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) needed by any professional to do their jobs safely and effectively. This is a critically essential process for both the medical and fitness professional. While it is very rare for an exercise prescription to cause the harm or death associated with the 100,000+ deaths that occur each year in the USA from drug prescriptions, it is critical that doctors, trainers, and health care practitioners have mastery of the FIISM Protocols and System in order to maximize benefits and minimize risks.
OVERVIEW OF THE IFPA/FELLOWSHIP IN INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE (FIISM) SYSTEM
The IFPA/FIISM JAS determined the precise KSAs needed by the medical, health-care, and fitness professionals. Faculty from the IFPA/FIISM/Fitness Institute of Technology (F.I.T.)/Doctors Fitness Centers (DFC) and the top practitioners in their fields created the most innovative system ever devised for the implementation of the IFPA/FIISM Protocols.
The IFPA/FIISM system divides the process into 7 Phases:- Phase 1: Patient Consultation and Assessment
- Phase 2: Medical Fitness Testing and Education
- Phase 3: Exercise Prescription
- Phase 4: Program Design
- Phase 5: Exercise Management
- Phase 6: Exercise Physiology
- Phase 7: Sports Nutrition Education
