Phase Seven: Sports Nutrition Education
The need for the IFPA Certified PFT to provide honest and accurate sports nutrition to educate the client is critical. Most people are confused by what’s healthy to eat and what’s not. The marketing hype, conflicting research and unscrupulous food and supplement manufacturers only add to the confusion and frustration. Since the client will be performing exercise that increases in frequency, intensity, time, type, and volume, they will need education in Sports Nutrition. Sports Nutrition Science meets the nutritional needs of a client while performing exercise activity, and provides specific KSAs to maximize performance, recovery, and adaptation. This is essential regardless of the client’s level: beginner to advanced athlete or patient with pre-disease, disability, or dysfunction up to and including patients with advanced degrees of disease.
The following IFPA Certification Courses provide extensive KSAs for Phase Seven:
- IFPA Personal Fitness Trainer
- IFPA Medical Fitness Specialist
